Norwegian Prime Minister razes country with iPad

April 16, 2010

Yesterday, Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted and threw so much ash in to the sky that official were forced to shut down transatlantic air travel. Norway’s Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, stuck in New York City when his flight was canceled, wasn’t the least bit phased. He continued to run the Norwegian government using his Apple iPad.

Unfortunately, officials in Oslo misinterpreted a few of his messages. Evidently, later in the day Stoltenberg took a break and was playing SimCity. Officials strictly followed what they thought were his instructions and demolished 10 square blocks of Oslo.

Stoltenberg later said, “I was playing a game and did a bit of rebuilding. I can’t believe they thought I wanted to really raze that section of the capital. I need to get back to Norway fast.”  Stoltenberg was especially irritated since the area of Oslo that was torn down included a new luxury condo he had just refurbished.

Deputy Prime Mnister Skarsmund Verhalffenvollmervik spoke at a press conference and remarked. “Well, at least we did not carry out all his instructions. We suspected something was up when he instructed us to turn the Parliament building into a brothel.”
