100 years ago, Tesla predicted the Blackberry

May 6, 2010

A recent news report indicates that famed Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla predicted the Blackberry 100 years ago. Tesla’s prediction was part of an interview in the New York Times as reprinted by Popular Mechanics in October 1909.

In the same interview Tesla — who made major contributions in the field of electromagnetism and things that make big, hairy sparks — also predicted the Slurpee, pantyhose, and Ashton Kutcher’s success at gaining followers on Twitter.

Albert Singlemug, a professor of electrical engineering and the junior varsity frisbee coach at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and Tesla’s unofficial Twitter biographer, said in a less-than-140-character message, “Tesla hd amzng knack 4 prdctng futr. He really 4saw so mny prdcts & srvces we use evrydy. 4 a man w/sch a bad hairct, he was really cool.”

Tim: You are rite on man! You should be editor of Cracked Magazine instead of ON. Or better yet, you should allow some of that wit to permeate the mag! I bet sales would improve.

  2. I don’t know what you’re talking about, sales are fine (looks around to see reaction from crowd).
